The initial drilling phase, typically difficult on very hard surfaces, is extremely easy; the MD cutting edge immediately scores the surface and prevents the lateral slipping of the drill bit.

The special drill bit for porcelain stoneware GRESMASTER is equipped with a standard CYLINDRICAL SHANK, operates at reduced rotational speeds, and requires no special precautions or templates during the initial drilling phase: it is therefore ideal for use with cordless drills in any condition. The GRESMASTER drill bit must be used exclusively in rotation only, taking care to disable the percussion function of the power tool.

The term “gres” indicates that the process the tiles have undergone has made them highly sintered, which in ceramics means a sort of «welding» of the grains occurring in the material before firing, resulting in high resistance (level 8 on the Mohs scale, which ranges from 1 to 10, with diamond at level 10) and almost zero porosity of the final product.

This is why drilling gres tiles is extremely difficult and impossible with common helical bits for building materials or ceramics, and it is necessary to use diamond tools or tools equipped with special carbide inserts.
